After the War

“Members of the Alliance to restore the Republic. Our victory today must be celebrated, but amid the happy cheer we must not forget the reason why we are here. Our work is not yet finished. We can not yet rest… Like many of you, I have been fighting wars all my life, and I long for peace. It is as sad as it is ironic, that to regain peace we must fight for it.”

“So stand. Their leader may be gone, but the poison of the Empire is spread deep throughout the galaxy. And this bold Rebellion is what is going to drive them out. We must finish what we’ve started here today. Word of our victory will spread quickly through the galaxy. The Empire’s ranks will fall into chaos, and we must act upon that chaos, and control it.”

“Remember our place, remember our purpose, and let us fulfil it. Remember what we fight for. Remember who we fight for. We are gathered here so that dictatorship and oppression can end, and so that democracy can resume.”

“Hold each other close tonight. Revel this victory. But rise tomorrow, to fight another day.”

As Senator Mothma wrapped up her speech, babble broke out in the briefing room once again. The Rebels had finally won. The fight they’d been fighting forever, was beginning to end.

Hera, Zeb and Rex returned to Lothal to pick up Sabine.

Lea and Han disappeared into the Falcon as Lando loudly proclaimed that they might have had a better time if the ship was still maintained by him…

Chewie contacted his family on Kashyyyk after years and set off to help them fight the Empire there.

Luke hopped into his x-wing and watched the droppers getting ready in the hanger for the next day’s adventures. His job wasn’t finished either. He still had so many unanswered questions…and he had someone to meet, he though grimly.

Ahsoka would be waiting.

Lightsabers

“so…”, Ahsoka said, “How much do you know about lightsabers?”

Luke took a moment to respond, “Really, nothing…I had my fathers old one but I…lost it when I fought Vader…” Ahsoka was surprised by how hurt she felt that Anakin’s lightsaber was lost…Ugh, she needed to focus…Since Luke knew nothing about lightsabers, she thought she’s better start from the beginning. “No problem,” she said  “you can practice with one of mine for now, but first you need to understand how they work, and why we use them.”

“Maybe you should sit down.” she added as an afterthought. He obliged, and sat down with his legs crossed on the cave floor. She sat down across from him and took out one of her sabers. She decided to channel her inner Master Huang and dissect it to show him how it worked. She closed her eyes and meditated, slowly levitating the hilt of the sword. She felt like she was 7 years old again on The Crucible, concentrating on each piece and screw and how they all fit together. When she opened her eyes Luke’s mouth was hanging open and his eyes were so wide she almost lost focus and laughed aloud. She smiled inspite of herself and told him, “this, is a lightsaber. It’s actually part of my second pair but the feel is the same, and that’s the most important thing. The sword and Jedi must be one, and the key component for that, is this.” She pointed at the Kyber crystal and continued, “it powers the lightsaber, gives it life, and connects it to you. In the Order…it was the greatest honour for a youngling to harvest their crystal and build their lightsaber.” She went on explaining the different components and wasn’t surprised by how quickly he caught on. It seemed he had his father’s mind for mechanics, and was very happy when she pointed this out to him.

“When do I get to build mine?”, he inquired, sounding impeccably like every youngling in the temple she’d ever met. She smiled slightly and gave him her best Jedi master answer, “When you’re ready.” He rolled his eyes at her and she started to laugh. Her lightsaber bits clattered to the floor and she could practically hear Master Huang tutting at her in her head. After she pulled herself together and reassembled her lightsaber she threw it to Luke and said “Let’s see what you can do with that. Use the dial on the left to adjust the length of the blade.”

He looked so comfortable with the blade in his hands. She walked him through the forms and styles, displaying her own backward grip and some of Anakin’s specialised styles too. They went over these for weeks. Ahsoka was unsure how long it would take for him to be truly ready, but he was determined, and she respected that. She’d decided to teach him a little bit about Jedi history too, even though she had a strange perspective on it. And of course she made him do force-control exercises. Those were Master Yoda’s favourite, and Luke, like Anakin, hated them.

They had interesting discussions while they trained. Ahsoka told Luke about the Clone Wars and his parents and how she’d come to join the Rebellion. Luke talked about his life on Tatooine and his own adventures with the Rebellion. Finally, one evening as they were collecting wood for a fire she told him, “you’re ready. It’s time for The Gathering.”

Order 66-Part 3

~from Ahsoka Tano

If she stopped Rex could she stop the others? She had hard evidence now that it wan’t their fault. They were being controlled! Her mind was working furiously trying to come up with a solution. There was Maul too, he was still loose on the ship wreaking havoc no doubt…How could this happen? Did nobody know? Why didn’t the Jedi ever listen? She was filled with rage towards them once again. Fives was right, he’d known about this years ago and the Jedi ignored him. They were so wrapped up in this “war with the separatists” and “saving the Republic” that they became blind. And where did that lead them…?

She couldn’t bare the thought. And her vision of Anakin…she felt it…the cold, the darkness, the death…could it be…could Maul be right…?

No! Snap out of it! Maul was manipulating her. The Sith were manipulating the force. That’s how they plotted all this in the first place. She had to get back to Coruscant and find out the truth. If she could lay low for a bit this ship would be taking her there anyway. And as for the clones…she’d have to speak with Rex. They’re still his brothers, he wouldn’t like to fight them.

She walked over to his bed and he spoke before she could even call his name. “I…know, how you’re feeling…”, he said. “I can’t believe it myself, and I uh…I honestly don’t know what to do either…There’s no way we can subdue these many clones and take out all their control chips. There’s too many of them. But I don’t wanna hurt them…” Ahsoka thought for a moment before responding, “I was lucky to get you out of there…I agree, there’s definitely too many to save…I’m sorry Rex, I wish…I wish I could do more. I think we’ll have to lay low until we reach Coruscant and then find a way off this ship. The rest of the Clones will still be hunting me but it’ll be easier to lose them once we’re on the surface. I’ve got the all clear signal from the Jedi temple so if we can get there it’ll be the safest. And…if you come with me, you know they’ll be hunting you too right?”

Rex smiled the way he had the first time he heard her call Anakin Skyguy and she took that as a yes. “What about Maul”, he said suddenly, the smile vanishing from his face. “The Chancellor wants him dead…”

She grimaced and said slowly, “I think we might have to let him go Rex…he’s unarmed but he’s enraged. And a Sith with a powerful grudge like him can be very dangerous. And besides, he’s the least of our worries right now…I…I don’t think the Council exists anymore…and I believe the Republic is under the control of this elusive Darth Sidious…”

She turned away from rex as she pondered these words. Was it…possible…?

Master and Apprentice

“Who are you? And how did you find me?”, he said.

Ahsoka smiled. “I was a Jedi. Now I’m a rebel, just like you.”

Luke thought for a moment then wondered allowed, “How come you’re not a Jedi anymore?”

She looked into those innocent eyes and years of pain filled her with sorrow, “because we were broken…”

Sensing that this was a painful subject Luke decided to change the subject. “So…how did you find me?”

“You’re presence is strong…and familiar. When I heard the Rebellion had recruited another Jedi, I just had to know…”

“Familiar?”, he asked confused.

“You look just like him…”, she almost couldn’t go on, “Your eyes, full of adventure, and your little boyish smile…I wouldn’t have been able to tell you two apart but you’re so much smaller…I guess  it makes sense though because your mother…” she trailed off and looked up to see an absolutely starstruck sandy haired boy.

“You…you knew…my parents!!? Both of them!? How? When?…you were a Jedi! Of course!” His excitement was uncontainable and he held on to every single syllable of her following words like it was his life force.

She almost cried. “He was my master…and the best friend I could have ever asked for. He cared so deeply about his friends…his kindness surprised most people, except your mother…”

His eyes filled with tears…Ahsoka had never seen Anakin cry… “My…my…mother?”, he sniffled.

“She was beautiful, kind, brave and the strongest woman I’ve ever known. She made me see that the galaxy was not all black and white, and she made me believe…She brought hope to every citizen of her planet every time she spoke. She was the Queen and Senator of Naboo you know?” She smiled cheekily as she finished.

She wanted to tell him everything, but there was such little time. He had to know how it all happened. This boy was their only hope, she knew it. She remembered every single moment she had lived in a second. All the pain, all the loss, but then the memory of Luke’s mother, showed her all the hope.

“Luke”, she said, “The blood that runs through your veins…will save the galaxy.”

Women Of The Galaxy

We are strong. We are brave. We have hope.We are Rebels.

Sabine:Even in the darkest times we are there to lift each other up, because we know that as long as we’re together we’ve got a chance.

Hera:We can’t back down just because we’re afraid. Now is our time to make things better, to change the galaxy. And I promise you, that we will.

Sabine:We make the impossible possible. We find the light in the darkest situations and then we spread that light to every corner of the galaxy.I never used to believe that before, but now I do, and you can too.

Leia:We fight for those who can not, and bring hope to those who have none.We make dreams come true.We are rebels, fighting for you.

Jyn: We can’t run, or hide.We must rise, and face the Empire together. This is our chance to make a real difference.

Ahsoka: It won’t be easy, but nothing worth doing ever is.We might be outnumbered, but when has that ever stopped us?

Mon Mothma: So stand, let us show the galaxy what we are capable of.Let us show them that it will take far more power than they possess to break us.

Leia:We hope for a brighter tomorrow; but hope is like the sun, if you only believe in it if you can see it, you’ll never make it through the night.

Ahsoka:So never lose hope.

Rebellions are built on hope.

He Was My Master

~From Ahsoka Tano

He was my master, my brother, my best friend. No matter what, he always protected me, always supported me, and always trusted me.I had never known a feeling like that before I met him. It’s the purest form of love there is. The ability to put someone elses needs before yours and always look out for them.To be there to lift them up when they fall and and stand strong by their side through all life’s challenges. That was Anakin to me.Even when all the jedi doubted me, he believed in me.Even when everyone thought I was guilty, he trusted me, and went out of his way, and against the council to help me.He was the best friend you could ever have.He was so good, too good, Obi-Wan sometimes said…but that was Anakin Skywalker.Even as a boy, Padmé says he knew nothing of greed, and all he wanted to do was help people. He always gave without any thought of reward. He cared deeply about his friends, and looked out for them until the end.

   ****

Recently, I encountered a Sith lord, I had never encountered him before but still I sensed something familier in him.A presence I hadn’t felt since the Clone Wars…since I last saw Anakin. And so I meditated, and what I discovered, I refused to believe. All the pain, all the hate, all the anger I had ever felt or sensed poured into me.That horribly cold presnce you can sense only from someone consumed by evil. And it pierced through my heart like a dagger.I was just beginning to believe I knew who he was behind that mask, but it was impossible.Whoever this person was, he had attacked my master, slaughtered him, and burried him somewhere no one would ever be able to hear him.Somewhere so deep that even the slightest feeling of his love, warmth and kindness would never be sensed. This man had betrayed and murdered Anakin Skywalker. My master could never be this vile. This sick transformation of body and mind was NOT him. Even the thought of it was unthinkable…

Out Of Place

~From Ahsoka Tano

Ever since I left the Jedi order, I’ve felt like I don’t belong anywhere.Everywhere I go, I feel completely out of place.I’m away from the only family I’ve ever known, and…i don’t think I’m ready for a new one.I put all my faith and trust into the Jedi order, and they let me down…Ever since Barris betrayed me I just don’t trust anyone. And I know it seems like a lonely way to live, but I don’t know what to do.

Sometimes I feel so alone I just want to run back to the temple, to the Jedi,…to Anakin, forget everything that happened and go back to my old life. But I know I can’t go back.I made my choice, I have to sort this out on my own.And even though I’m technically not a Jedi anymore, the force still guides me, and it’s going to help me survive.

In time I know my anxiety will settle down and I might make a few unexpected friends. The force works in surprising ways. But I’ll have to work for it, while continuing to fight this war in any way I can.Because even if I’m not a Jedi; I can fight, and I have to, for those who can not.

Beauty

~From Ahsoka Tano

It’s such a beautiful day.The skies are clear, the water is blue, and the suns soft golden light is falling on everything so perfectly, it’s hard to believe we’re in the middle of a war.Sometimes I wonder, ‘what are we fighting for anyway?’.When there are places in the galaxy that are so peaceful, and so beautiful, that are best left alone, why do we just destroy everything?

The ocean is so calming. It reminds me of a time when things were different. When we always had time to just, breathe.Reach out.Take in our surroundings.Enjoy the beauty in the galaxy, and work to preserve it.

It saddens me to think that the only way we might restore that sense of calm to the galaxy is by fighting for it.How ironic such things can be…

Even now, when I’m so at ease, somewhere in the back of my mind, I’m always dwelling on that dark cloud that’s fallen over the galaxy. That shadow in the force that has absorbed nearly everything. But not here, not this place. Here that darkness will never reach, I just know it.There are forces at work here that are too complex and too pure for anyone to understand.

They will protect this beauty for as long as they can.But in the end, it’s up to us to ensure that this light is protected forever.

The Apprentice Lives

She sat there, staring unseeingly at the view port. She was thinking about the Sith Lord…she felt so cold; the fear, the anger, the hatred; this man, whoever he was, was consumed by it.Yet she’d had such a strong connection with him.He felt so, familiar.Could it be? She thought…but no, that was impossible.Anakin…Anakin was dead, gone, and besides, her master could never be so vile.

She dismissed the thought as quickly as it had come, but it still lingered, somewhere at the edge of her consciousness.

Ahsoka was confused, her vision was clouded. Her feelings were not permitting her to see things clearly, to see this man, this dark lord of the Sith for who he really was.She was afraid, afraid of the truth…but how could she be? She thought she’d moved on from this. From the loss of the Jedi, the loss of her friends, her master…

She promised herself that she would find the truth, however hard it may be, however long it may take. This feeling was causing her so much pain…she just had to know…

All is as the force wills it.

I’ve been wondering about the force, what it intends for the galaxy.Sometimes it works in my favour, sometimes it doesn’t; but no matter what, the Jedi would always say “all is as the force wills it”.So what is its will?

I meditated.I wondered.I thought.Thought long and hard.Thought about what the force is.

Then it came to me, when I wasn’t thinking at all…

The force is an energy, it surrounds us and binds us.It is non-biased and everlasting. It takes no sides, favours no one. There is no light or dark, good or evil, simply…balance.
