The Purge

Sabine returned from her routine morning patrol of Lothal’s Capital City to an emergency alert beeping on her comm channel. It was about an hour old so she answered it immediately. Bo Katan’s faced bloomed to life on the holo. She looked like she was in the midst of a battle.

“Sabine!” She shouted, “If you’re receiving this, we need backup immediately. The Empire is here. They came out of nowhere… ha!,” she rolled and dodged bullet before continuing, “There’s too many of them, hundreds of ships…please, you’re our only hope.”

Sabine’s knees buckled. Her worst nightmares were coming to life. Ever since she’d made the decision to stay on Lothal, away from all the action, she’d been afraid that one day the Empire would attack her friends ore her planet and she’d be too far away to help.

She pulled herself together and called Ryder to request for a ship. Within minutes, she was speeding away, back home. She had informed Bo Katan that she was on her way but didn’t receive a response. She had no idea what she was walking into but that hardly mattered. She knew the Empire must have had a blockade outside the hyperspace lane so she’d have to exit in the adjacent system and fly sub light from there so she could enter from the far side of the planet, behind one of the moons. It would take longer but she would never make it through the blockade. She was good, but not that good.

When she arrived at the planet she glimpsed the armada the empire had brought and she almost considered turning back. It looked like their entire fleet. She had no idea where the fighting was concentrated but she headed for the capital and hoped for the best. She tried to alert her friends that she was coming but she nearly got shot down anyways. “Typical…” she muttered as she found a safe place to land.

She leaped off her ship, lightsaber raised and guns blazing. There were explosions all around her, every class of Imperial trooper raining fire upon them. Fortunately she spotted no civilians around, only armour clad warriors. She chose to believe that that meant all the civilians had either escaped or were in hiding and weren’t dead or captured.

She flew around, searching for anyone in blue: the members of clan Kryze. She flew over one of the banks and finally spotted 3 of their warriors being cornered there. She took out the imps with little trouble from her high vantage point and landed to greet them. They removed their helmets and thanked her as she asked, “Where is Lady Bo Katan? I need to speak with her.”

A grim look passed between them, “we’ll take you to her, you’re Sabine Wren aren’t you?”

Sabine nodded and they took off.

They spotted Bo leading the rest of Clan Kryze in a skirmish outside the throne room.

“Bo!” Sabine shouted.

“Sabine! Thank gods you’re here.”Bo screamed back as she dealt with the last of the imperials she was fighting.

“What in blazes is going on?”

“I wish I knew…”

“Alright, what are our defences looking like?”

“Depleted, but we’re still fighting. The General or Moff who’s leading this attack hasn’t shown himself yet but he clearly knows what he’s doing. Your mother is leading 2 Clans just outside the city, Clan Eldar and Rook are protecting the factories, and the rest of us are here. If the Capital falls it’s all over.”

“Rao?” Sabine asked

“Leading the air strike. I hope he’s dong better than we are. Are any of your friends coming?”

“I sent them a message but they’re pretty busy, I wouldn’t count on it.”

“Dank Ferrik…alright.”

“So what’s our plan?”, Sabine inquired, “How do we get rid of them?”

Bo Katan sighed, “We survive.”

A Mandalorian Jedi?

Sabine rocketed onto the landing above her and ignited Ezra’s lightsaber when she saw the squad of stormtroopers awaiting her.

“JEDI!”, they yelled immediately, “Call for reinforcements!”

“Dank Ferrik”, she muttered, and then yelled, “Do I look like a Jedi!!!??”

She allowed herself a moment to grumble before she flew off and cut them all down. She was getting tired of people mistaking her identity. Seriously, her armour was bright pink, and clearly Mandalorian. How stupid could they get? Thinking a Mandalorian could be a Jedi…Tar Vizla had been the first and the last. This never happened to her when she had the Darksaber did it?

She hung around to see if the Empire’s reinforcement were going to show up and when they did she needed backup of her own. She called the only people she knew: Ryder Azadi and his crew. He was officially the Governor of Lothal now (well, not appointed by Coruscant but as official as it could get) and was very busy, but he’d never hesitate to help out a friend. He’d responded cheerfully to her call and was there in minutes. Any trace of the Empire here was bad news since they’d blown up the Dome and sent Thrawn to who-knows-where, so he was interested in that too.

“Sabine!”, he greeted her with a big smile on his face. “At it again huh? I ought to hire you officially.”

She smiled back at him from under her helmet and then realised she was under her helmet so she took it off. “Talk later, look…”, she said as she pointed to the incoming Imperial forces.

“Holy Banthas”, he said under his breath, “I haven’t seen so many forces here in years, what the hell happened?”

Sabine sighed and ignited her lightsaber, “They thought I was a Jedi…again…”

Rider slapped his palm over his face and responded, “Can’t you just stop using that thing? You attract enough attention as it is…How are you still alive?”

Sabine laughed at that, “Firstly, did you just ask a Mandalorian to give up a weapon? And secondly, I’m alive because I have a lot of weapons…Let’s get to work.”

She threw her helmet back on and took off. A flying Mandalorian dressed in pink, with a flashy Jedi weapon, reigning death upon the Empire…Perfect 🙂

A Mission

Sabine was eating a very, very late snack up in her…well Ezra’s tower, when the holo-transmitter hummed to life. It was Hera! Sabine jumped over a crate of helmets to greet her and said, “Hey! How’s it going? How’s Jacen? You guys miss me yet?”

Hera smiled back weakly, she looked troubled. “What’s wrong?”, Sabine inquired immediately, “I know that look…” Hera sighed… “The Alliance is mounting a massive attack on the Imperial facility on Scarif. A small crew is already on the surface and they’ve engaged the Imps but they need backup, now. I don’t have much time…I’m leaving Jacen here on Yavin, he’ll be safe…”, then she looked Sabine in the eye and said, “Do you think you could come with us? We could really use you on this one.”

Sabine was so taken aback it took her a minute to respond. Mounting a full scale attack on Scarif? That was a bold move. She whistled aloud, senator Mothma was really going all out these days. They needed all the help they could get…She pulled up a star chart and said, “I don’t have a ship but…I’m not out of the way. Pick me up from the comm tower outside Capital City. I’ll be waiting.” She finished with a smile. “Thank you”, Hera replied, “we’ll see you soon.”

Once the hologram was off Sabine started to think about how much Ezra would have loved this mission. Where could he be?…she half hoped that good-for-nothing Lothrat would just turn up at her doorstep one day…she chided herself…she needed to focus. She walked around the room, picking up supplies as she went. Explosives, blasters, backpack, paint, Ezra’s lightsaber (she’d really gotten very good at using it), more explosives…She checked over all her gear and realised she was low on blaster ammo. Eh, she thought, Rex would bring enough for both of them. She liked Rex. He was a true warrior… She threw some holo-maps into her bag and checked over her armour again before grabbing her helmet and heading outside. Hera would her there soon. She sighed and watched her breath form mist in the cold night air…She hadn’t been on a crazy mission like this in a while…she was in for a very long night.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the blinding lights of the Ghost snd she grinned from ear to ear. She was home. She gave Zeb her customary welcome punch and and then slapped Rex’s outstretched palm. They both chuckled as they welcomed her back. She dropped her pack of in her room and headed to the cockpit. Hera smiled and greeted her with a big Mamma hug and then they were off, spiralling through hyperspace. Chopper ambled in and pretended that he wasn’t excited to have her back…useless bucket of bolts…Then Hera went over the plan with the whole crew and they went off to get ready but Sabine stayed back. She sighed, “This is gonna be a tough one…without access codes it’s basically impossible to get past that shield. Our best bet for getting to the surface is when they open the gate for for their own pilots…and then theres getting out…” She pulled up a scan of the shield and continued “there’s no way even a transmission will get through with the shield up. We’ll have to look for a weak link and try and blast our way through. Shame scans and data can only tell us so much about it…we’ll only get a good look once we’re actually there. Maybe a few good hits to the power cells could do the trick…you guys got any proton torpedoes?” Hera laughed, “God, have I missed having you around.”, then she got serious and said, “Blast…we’re really flying in blind on this one. I’ll tell command what you know. Go get ready with the others. Kallus is here too by the way…and he’s in your seat. Send him up will you?”

“Course”, she said as she left. She sent Kallus up and then found Rex in the hold picking up some guns and asked him to throw her some blaster ammo. He chuckled and said, “It’s good to have you back kid, here you go…You know anything about this Scarif place?” She told him what she knew and he didn’t look very optimistic once she was finished, “Don’t worry big guy”, she said, “the whole Alliance is going to be there. It’s finally happening.”

Just then Hera’s voice rang out through the ship, “Battle stations! Everyone! We’re coming out of hyperspace!” Sabine Practically flew towards the nose gun and strapped herself in when they dropped into space. The ship shook as a raging battle came into view. “oooh…” she breathed, “It really is happening…”

Order 66-Part 3

~from Ahsoka Tano

If she stopped Rex could she stop the others? She had hard evidence now that it wan’t their fault. They were being controlled! Her mind was working furiously trying to come up with a solution. There was Maul too, he was still loose on the ship wreaking havoc no doubt…How could this happen? Did nobody know? Why didn’t the Jedi ever listen? She was filled with rage towards them once again. Fives was right, he’d known about this years ago and the Jedi ignored him. They were so wrapped up in this “war with the separatists” and “saving the Republic” that they became blind. And where did that lead them…?

She couldn’t bare the thought. And her vision of Anakin…she felt it…the cold, the darkness, the death…could it be…could Maul be right…?

No! Snap out of it! Maul was manipulating her. The Sith were manipulating the force. That’s how they plotted all this in the first place. She had to get back to Coruscant and find out the truth. If she could lay low for a bit this ship would be taking her there anyway. And as for the clones…she’d have to speak with Rex. They’re still his brothers, he wouldn’t like to fight them.

She walked over to his bed and he spoke before she could even call his name. “I…know, how you’re feeling…”, he said. “I can’t believe it myself, and I uh…I honestly don’t know what to do either…There’s no way we can subdue these many clones and take out all their control chips. There’s too many of them. But I don’t wanna hurt them…” Ahsoka thought for a moment before responding, “I was lucky to get you out of there…I agree, there’s definitely too many to save…I’m sorry Rex, I wish…I wish I could do more. I think we’ll have to lay low until we reach Coruscant and then find a way off this ship. The rest of the Clones will still be hunting me but it’ll be easier to lose them once we’re on the surface. I’ve got the all clear signal from the Jedi temple so if we can get there it’ll be the safest. And…if you come with me, you know they’ll be hunting you too right?”

Rex smiled the way he had the first time he heard her call Anakin Skyguy and she took that as a yes. “What about Maul”, he said suddenly, the smile vanishing from his face. “The Chancellor wants him dead…”

She grimaced and said slowly, “I think we might have to let him go Rex…he’s unarmed but he’s enraged. And a Sith with a powerful grudge like him can be very dangerous. And besides, he’s the least of our worries right now…I…I don’t think the Council exists anymore…and I believe the Republic is under the control of this elusive Darth Sidious…”

She turned away from rex as she pondered these words. Was it…possible…?

Order 66

~from Clone Commander Wolffe

It was like they flipped a switch inside our heads that we didn’t even know was there, and suddenly everything went blank. And only one single thought remained. Dangling in front of my eyes, ringing in my ears. Repeating itself over and over like a broken protocol droid—kill the Jedi.

As soon as I heard those fatal words, “Execute Order 66” My mind went into overdrive, no longer functioning. My arms and legs took over, like they weren’t in my control, but I let them anyway. And I didn’t feel like I needed to stop it. It felt so right, like this was how it was always meant to be—like in our nightmares…

The ones which haunted us in our Barracks late at night as cadets on Kamino. The nightmare of The Evil Jedi. It was so unimaginable that we never, ever thought it was even remotely real. We’d laughed about it as we got older, all our brothers had…but now that is was real, I couldn’t even begin to comprehend it. Before I even registered what was happening, it was over.

And after it was over, after I watched General Plo fall fall from the sky—The man who’d once told me he’d seen something special in me, who’d told me he trusted me with his life, who’d said he cared about me like I was more than some expendable machine—I didn’t know what to do.

I landed beside the wreckage, hoping it was just another nightmare. My mind was at war with itself, 2 sides fighting over control over my body–the man and the death machine. I stumbled over to the crashed ship, one second aghast by what I’d just witnessed and done, the next second feeling like I should walk away and move on to the next one. I raised my blaster as I approached. For the first time in my life, there was no one by my side as I did, and I couldn’t trust anyone…

When I saw his face I was paralysed, by grief, anger, confusion, fear. My arms raised the blaster, ready to finish him off, the Jedi who’d betrayed me, who’d…who’d…what!? Who’d NOTHING!! This was all wrong, so wrong, but so right!! My head was bursting, I wanted to ram it into a wall. I wanted to wring my own neck to shake myself out of this madness. What did this make me? I thought wildly. A seppie plotter? A murderer? But weren’t the Jedi the murderers!?

I bolted. I threw myself back into the ship and flew off. I wasn’t safe. I was definitely not safe. As I flipped the consoles to jump out of there I remembered a story. More of a rumour…whispers from the 501st. I’d always thought it was a myth, just like our nightmares…but I guess now it all made sense. They’d said one of the clones found a control chip inside our heads that we’d had from birth (which made it a plot by the Kaminoans). The chip was supposed to make us turn on the Jedi and kill them wherever we were, no matter what we were doing. Some of the men had even said they saw one of the clones lose control and kill one of the Jedi in front of their eyes. I hadn’t believed one word of it…until I’d just become it. Nobody had believed that clone…not even the Jedi, so he shot himself in the head. Ah how it all made sense now, but no sense at all….AAAAH! I almost screamed out loud. My mind was reeling again. Did that mean the Kaminoans were seppies? And would that make all the clones SEPPIES!? Oh what in the galaxy…I almost collapsed. I set course for Coruscant when I got an incoming signal…from Rex. I hesitated before I answered…this could be a trap, or any number of unsuspected things. But then an instinct I didn’t know if I should trust, opened the channel.

“Hey Brother”, he said solemnly as the hologram flickered to life. “Did you get the order? Did it happen to you too?” he paused. “Like in our nightmares?”. I was so taken aback I didn’t respond for at least 30 seconds. “You mean…it wasn’t just me?…You’re not about to arrest me? You’re not calling me to take me in?” I said warily…then…did I hear him, chuckle? It was a sad chuckle, like he took pity on me. “I’m holding a camp, refugee sort, off the radar. Where it’s safe for us. I promise you. You’re not alone Wolffe, and you never will be. We’re brothers…remember?…always.

“Sending coordinates…”

The Mandalorian

He was trained by the best in the galaxy, and he fought with honour.

After years of fighting he earned his armour. A treasure to his people. Forged of an alloy only they could ever create. Passed from generation to generation, and now his. It was the greatest honour of all. His armour carried the blood of the stars and held a millennia of stories, and now his.

He travelled across the galaxy, and was feared yet respected everywhere he went.

Known not by name or face.

A bounty-hunter with a code. A legend.

A Mandalorian.

Stop Wars

~from the clones

War. It breaks you. Crushes the mind. Torments the soul.

Adrenaline rush. Fire. Run. Scream.

Fire, burning all around. Silence.

We were forged by it. Forged for it.

War runs deep through our veins. Our training is in our blood. We were made to fight and then…

Don’t be fooled by colours and lights and flashing ships…they’re on fire. Laser swords cutting down their victims, they scream in agony, there’s blood.

The stars hold this truth. They hold our history and our fate. They hold our stories…so many stories. Of victory, yet of pain, suffering, death.

We spent years killing for a cause that didn’t exist. We watched millions of our brothers die, and each time, we died a little too. Every drop of blood spilled, spilled millions of times over from each and every one of us. We are woven together in ways no one could understand. But then one unexpected, unprecedented day, we were turned from flesh and blood to machines within a second, and as though we had no minds to think, we let go. Like robots they took control of us and we fired. Just fired. Until every last one of them lay dead upon the floor—backstabbed , murdered in cold blood.

In a pile of robes and blood we watched each Jedi’s life force drain away, one after the other, after the other. I watched them drain away.

Fade into nothingness, just like me.

We were used. Used for a sick purpose we never could have guessed. There was a rumour years ago about Arc Trooper ‘Fives’ from the 501’st, they said he knew what was going to happen, but the chap killed himself cuz no one believed him…not even general Skywalker.

We thought we were intelligent. Thought we were better than those seppie droids. Truth is we were just the same. We were nothing. We were just like them but with the pain and awful memories of war. They were at piece when it was done, shut down.

We’re alive, but not living. Left with nothing…
